Michael Schafer is the owner & executive chef of Sydney's Fine Dining restaurant at The Forks. A restaurant he created and designed with his own artistic talents. Michael has successfully introduced the table d'hôte dining experience to the city of Winnipeg. There were more than a few skeptics with regard to his concept of a table d'hôte menu, however after eight & a half years and 102 monthly menus later, his skeptics are no longer doubters. Michaels' restaurant was recognized by WHERE Canada as One of the top 10 new Restaurants in Canada in 2004. Sydney's has also landed itself in Anne Hardy's "Where to Eat in Canada" eight years in a row since the day Michael opened the doors. Sydney's has been honored with two stars of excellence, one of 87 restaurants to receive this recognition in Canada.
